SENIOR COUNSEL

“Ensuring that each client’s story is told clearly, accurately, and in the most compelling light is both intellectually engaging and deeply rewarding.”

ABOUT BRIAN SHERMAN

Brian Sherman is a seasoned civil litigator and former in-house General Counsel with more than two decades of experience representing businesses, insurers, healthcare organizations, and individuals in complex, high-stakes disputes.

Brian has served as lead counsel in hundreds of matters across Texas, securing more than 50 employer-sided jury trial and arbitration victories. His practice spans both sides of the docket – plaintiff and defense – and both sides of the table as outside counsel and in-house advisor. That range of experience allows him to approach every case with a clear understanding of not only how disputes are litigated, but how business decisions are made.

Before joining Gallian Firm, Brian founded and led his own practice for over 15 years, representing clients in commercial litigation, employment matters, healthcare law, and corporate transactions. He also served as General Counsel for multiple companies, where he advised executive leadership on litigation strategy, risk exposure, corporate governance, and complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.

Brian’s approach is grounded in practicality. He focuses on identifying efficient paths to resolution, managing risk, and aligning legal strategy with the broader objectives of the client – whether that means aggressive litigation or strategic resolution outside the courtroom.

At Gallian Firm, Brian handles a wide range of civil matters, including commercial disputes, contract litigation, employment law, premises liability, catastrophic injury cases, and healthcare-related litigation. He also advises business clients on risk management, corporate governance, and pre-litigation strategies designed to reduce exposure before disputes arise.

Personal Statement

I became a lawyer because I wanted to make a difference in high-stakes moments when the outcome matters to a real person or a real business. More than two decades in, that hasn’t changed. My career has taken me across courtrooms, boardrooms, and arbitration panels, and through hundreds of contested disputes. But numbers don’t tell the whole story. What drives me is the understanding that every matter, no matter how legally complex, represents something real for the client on the other side of the table. That perspective, that their fight deserves everything I can bring to it, is what I show up with every day.

My background is deliberately broad. I have practiced as outside litigation counsel and as in-house General Counsel, which means I see disputes through both lenses: how a case is tried and how a business decision is made. I’ve represented plaintiffs and defendants, individuals and corporations, self-insured and the insured. Before joining Gallian Firm, I founded and led my own practice for over 15 years, handling commercial litigation, employment matters, healthcare law, and complex transactions. I have also served as General Counsel for several companies, advising leadership on risk, governance, and litigation strategy at the highest level. I joined Gallian Firm because this is a place that shares the same foundational belief I’ve always held: that clients come first, full stop, and that the right lawyer fights, not settles for convenience.

Gallian Firm’s mission resonates with me personally and professionally. The idea that your fight becomes our fight isn’t marketing language, it’s a professional obligation, and one I take seriously. I bring the same intensity to a pre-suit demand letter as I do to closing arguments, because the client’s outcome begins long before a jury is seated. I’m proud to be part of a firm that understands that.

FAQs Section

What brought you to this professional career path?

My path to becoming a lawyer began unexpectedly during my undergraduate studies in architecture. After completing two semesters of co-op work at an architecture firm, I found myself regularly delivering drawings to attorneys for review, long before those designs ever carried real weight in the field. As I moved towards graduation, I realized that the aspect I enjoyed most of architecture school was presenting and defending my work before industry professionals. Encouraged by counselors who recognized my ability to think on my feet and articulate strong, persuasive arguments, I began to see law as a natural fit. What started as a peripheral interest quickly evolved into a clear professional calling.

What do you enjoy most about working in the legal profession?

What I enjoy most about the legal profession is the opportunity to solve complex problems while helping clients navigate critical moments, whether on a personal or corporate level. I find great satisfaction in taking a set of facts, deconstructing a story down to its essential elements, and then thoughtfully rebuilding it in a way that best serves my client within the bounds of the law. For individual clients, that often means providing clarity and advocacy during difficult times; for corporate clients, it involves offering strategic guidance, managing risk, and helping them move forward with confidence in high-stakes situations.

Ensuring that each client’s story is told clearly, accurately, and in the most compelling light is both intellectually engaging and deeply rewarding.

What are some of your hobbies outside of the office?

Outside of the office I enjoy cycling, snowboarding, great restaurants, the outdoors, and music.

Why did you join Gallian Firm?

I chose to join Gallian Firm because it strikes a rare balance between sophistication and approachability. The firm delivers the quality and resources of a larger practice, but with a more personal, client-focused approach. I was particularly drawn to its ambition to be elite without creating an elitist culture. Equally important, the firm provides a strong platform for building a practice and a clear leadership position within the legal community.
