ABOUT GREGG GALLIAN
Gregg Gallian is a prominent Dallas Criminal Defense Attorney who has made a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of clients. Gallian is a former prosecutor and now represents clients facing federal and state criminal charges or investigations. His extensive experience covers a wide range of cases, from federal violations like wire fraud, health care fraud, and drug conspiracies to state offenses such as murder, drug possession, driving while intoxicated, and family violence matters.
Gallian loves what he does. “The stakes are high in every criminal case and clients always want the best possible representation. Our clients always fall into one of two categories: either they didn’t do what they are being accused of and need us immediately, or they did what they are accused of, and we need to minimize the effects for their future,” he says.
Gallian opened the Gallian Firm with his wife and law partner, Jaclyn Gallian, in 2019. Together, they are a full-service criminal defense and civil litigation law firm. The criminal defense section focuses on protecting and defending individuals accused of state and federal crimes. The civil litigation practice focuses on efficiently and effectively representing people and businesses to navigate the complexities of a civil lawsuit. Simply put, Gallian Firm protects your freedom and your business.
Gallian is a familiar face in courtrooms throughout North Texas and has handled some of the biggest, most highly publicized federal cases in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He has handled more than 50 trials and obtained hundreds of dismissals and non-prosecution agreements in state and federal matters.
“My favorite part of this job is helping good people through a very scary time in their life. A very close second is trial – I love everything about being in the courtroom.”
Known for his sense of humor and infectious, booming laugh, Gallian’s empathy and comic relief are a welcome reprieve in such a serious field of law. “People refer cases to me because they know these clients will be taken care of,” he says.

Q&A’S WITH GREGG
Why criminal defense?
The short answer is that I love it and I’m great at it. The long answer is that after graduating from law school, I knew I wanted to be in the courtroom. Nowadays, civil cases hardly ever go to trial. I knew that if I wanted to be in the courtroom, I had to pursue criminal law. After being a prosecutor with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, my passion for the courtroom only grew. Now I get to combine two of my favorite things – helping people and the courtroom – in one job.`
Do you ever get nervous handling cases where Clients’ lives are on the line?
Yes and no. Yes because I will never lose the understanding and appreciation of what criminal charges mean to my clients. No, because I know that when the case is in my hands no one will outwork me. This level of dedication and case preparation is where I get my comfort amidst the anxiety.
What types of cases do you enjoy the most?
Hard cases. As a criminal defense attorney, I live in a world of being the underdog. I’ve learned to thrive in this arena. When it’s time for the courtroom, I want a tough, knock-down, drag-out fight, type of case. Those are the cases I enjoy the most.
What areas or jurisdictions do you practice in?
We handle state cases all throughout the Dallas / Forth-Worth metroplex. But we are able to handle cases outside this area as well. As far as federal cases, we focus predominantly in the northern and eastern districts of Texas. We can defend a federal criminal case anywhere in the United States, and have recently handled federal cases in Washington D.C. and Manhattan, N.Y.
What’s the best part of your job?
Two words – Not Guilty. No better feeling in my world than hearing the jury read “Not Guilty” on the verdict form. Take a look at some our recent winning results.
Why should I hire you?
If you’re looking for representation, I suggest narrowing the list down to a few of your favorites. Meet and question each one. After that process, I strongly believe that my experience, passion for fighting, and strategy will make my firm the top contender. Check out some of my client reviews, it may help you decide.
What awards do you have?
I was named Prosecutor of the Year with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in 2015. I’ve been selected to D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in 2020 and 2021; D Magazine’s Best Lawyers Under 40 in 2021 and 2022; Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2019 through 2022; and awarded the AV Preeminent Rating in 2021 for the Highest Level of Professional Excellence. There are some more but these are locally and nationally recognized as the best of the best.
What does an average day look like for you (from when you wake up to when you go to sleep?)
My wife and I wake up at 4:30 a.m. where we hit the gym until 6 am. Coffee and news until 7. Take my kids to school and then work for the day. Most mornings I am in court, negotiating with prosecutors and talking with Judges. I’m in the office most afternoons where I spend time meeting with clients and preparing a defense in their case. Dinner. Rest. Repeat. I love it!
What do you like most about being a criminal defense attorney?
On a day-to-day basis, I love helping people.Every day I achieve a result that changes someone’s life for the better. That feeling is addicting. From a professional perspective, my favorite thing about being an attorney is trial – there is no better feeling than an intense cross-examination or a winning closing argument.
What do you find most frustrating about being a criminal defense attorney?
The most frustrating part about my job is dealing with prosecutors who refuse to believe in second chances or want to punish my client for an, oftentimes, singular mistake. I have found that persistence and relentlessness often carry the day on these cases.

On a personal note, what do you enjoy outside of work?
I love spending time with my wife and two kids. As a family, we love being together outside making memories in the sun and, sometimes in Texas, in the snow. Laughter is the fuel that runs our house.
What’s your favorite Dallas restaurant?
Town Hearth for the atmosphere. Bugatti’s for the food and friendship. Chuy’s for the chips and salsa. Javier’s for the cigar bar.
